Sharda Sinha’s Husband Dr. Brij Bhushan Sinha Passes Away at 80

Dr. Brij Bhushan Sinha, husband of renowned folk singer and Padma Vibhushan awardee Sharda Sinha, passed away at the age of 80. Two days ago, he suffered a head injury after a fall at his home, which resulted in a brain haemorrhage. He was admitted to a hospital in Patna and placed on a ventilator, but despite efforts, he passed away on September 22. Dr. Sinha had retired as the Regional Deputy Director of the Education Department.

Sharda Sinha’s Husband Played a Key Role in Her Career

Sharda Sinha has often credited her husband for supporting her musical journey. In an interview, she shared how her husband had a deep love for music, which helped her pursue her passion even after their marriage in 1970. Moving to her in-laws’ home in Begusarai, she found herself in a conservative environment where her mother-in-law disapproved of women singing outside the home. Although she was allowed to perform devotional songs at home, public performances were discouraged.

Just days after their wedding, the village head approached her father-in-law, praising Sharda’s singing talent and requesting her to perform devotional songs at the local temple. Her father-in-law agreed, much to her joy, although her mother-in-law was displeased. In this challenging situation, her husband stepped in to support her and convinced his mother to allow Sharda to continue her singing.

A Special Tribute to Social Media

In 2020, on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary, Sharda Sinha shared a heartfelt tribute to her husband on social media. She reflected on their enduring bond and remembered one of her popular songs, “Kahe Toh Se Sajna Ye Tohri Sajnariya… Pag-Pag Liye Jaoon Tohri Balaiyan…” She praised her husband for being a pillar of strength and companionship throughout their married life. In her message, she wrote, “You have stood like a pillar, always by my side. Today, I sit with you and cherish every moment of our journey filled with patience, love, and unwavering support.
