Veteran Malayalam actor Mohan Raj, best known for portraying the iconic villain Keerikkadan Jose in Kireedam, has passed away at the age of 70. The actor was undergoing treatment for multiple health conditions at his home in Kanjiramkulam.

Mohan Raj’s role as Keerikkadan Jose in Kireedam remains one of the most celebrated villain characters in Malayalam cinema. The actor’s ability to command the screen with his intensity made him a standout figure in numerous films. He showcased his talent in films like Uppukandam Brothers, Chenkol, and Narasimham, earning him recognition as one of the finest actors in negative roles.

Condolences from the Film Industry

Actor Mohanlal shared a heartfelt message on social media, remembering Mohan Raj’s performance as Keerikkadan Jose. “It is a rare blessing for an actor to be remembered by the name of a character,” Mohanlal said. Other prominent personalities, including actor Mammootty and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, also offered their condolences.

Mohan Raj’s Life Before Cinema

Before making his debut in films in his mid-30s, Mohan Raj had a distinguished career with the Enforcement Directorate. After completing his degree in economics, he joined the Indian Army but had to leave due to an injury. He eventually pursued a career in government service, balancing his work with his passion for acting. His first film, Moonnam Mura, was released in 1988, and he went on to enjoy a successful career in the Malayalam film industry.
